「かや織りふきん」の歴史と使い方

■ 「かや織りふきん」の歴史について
奈良の工芸「かや織」は奈良時代より前に伝わった「風は通すが蚊は通さない」という「蚊帳（かや）」に使われる、目の粗い薄織物です。

綿のかや織を五枚重ねで縫い合わせたふきんは、使うほどに柔らかくなり、吸水性に優れ、丈夫で長く使う事が出来ます。

■ 「かや織りふきん」の使い方（取り扱い方法）について
水またはぬるま湯でよく洗い、糊（のり）を落としてからご利用ください。

塩素系漂白剤もご利用可能ですが、柔軟剤はご利用にならないでください。

生地の特性上、強い力がかかると、ほつれが出る恐れがあり、洗濯・乾燥により縮みが生じます。

■ About The History of “Kaya-ori Fukin”
Nara’s craft, “Kaya-ori” is a coarse-grained thin fabric used for “Kaya” which was introduced before the Nara era and has the features what allows wind to pass but not mosquitoes.

Towel sewn with five layers of “Kaya-ori” made of cotton becomes more softly by the more you use.

And also, it absorbs water well and we can use it for long term because it is strong.

■ About How to use (How to treat) of “Kaya-ori Fukin”
Please use it after washing well with water or lukewarm water and removing the glue.

The chlorine bleach is available but, please do not use softeners for it.

Due to the characteristics of the fabric, when the strong force is given to it, it will be a possibility to cause fraying.

And also, it will be shrinking by washing and drying.
